What to know before using CBD oil

CBD oil has become a popular option for relieving pain and discomfort of chronic ailments and anxiety without altering the mind or experiencing debilitating side effects and addiction that often accompanies the traditional pharmaceutical pain relief drugs. Pain medications have been known to often become addictive or lead to substance abuse.

Instead, many have turned to an alternative, more natural method of finding relief through the use of CBD oil. Some clinical studies show that CBD oil provides relief for Rheumatoid Arthritis, MS, anxiety, depression, sciatic nerve pain, inflammation, acne, insomnia, PTSD Post Traumatic Stress Disorder, and even heart disease as it lowers blood pressure. While cancer patients have found symptom relief associated with the disease and the cancer treatment such as nausea, vomiting, or pain. Some even claim that CBD oil has anti-cancer properties. Additionally, research is currently being conducted to determine whether or not CBD oil may prove beneficial with other ailments such as epilepsy, diabetes, mental disorders with an anti-psychotic effect such as schizophrenia, even studying the impact on tumors, Parkinson’s and Alzheimer’s.

Depression and anxiety meet CBD oil

CBD oil may be the answer to a serious worldwide problem of depression. According to WHO World Health Organization, depression has become the largest contributor to disability worldwide with anxiety not far behind. Both depression and anxiety are commonly treated with medications that often cause a wide range of unpleasant side effects and worse. Sometimes, these drugs intended to help actually end up becoming the root of the addiction. On the other hand, CBD oil may offer an anti-depressant alternative.

What exactly is CBD oil?

First things first, let’s explore exactly what CBD oil is and what it is not. CBD stands for Cannabidiol. It is often somewhat erroneously thought to be mood-altering marijuana. The difference is that it does not contain THC Tetrahydrocannabinol which is the ingredient that produces the psychoactive sensations. CBD oil, on the other hand, is not psychoactive.

CBD oil is made by extracting CBD from a cannabis plant and then diluting it with a carrier oil such as partially fractionated coconut oil or hemp seed oil. Though, there are a couple other ways to administer it, it is typically sold in a glass bottle with a medicine dropper to easily dispense it.

So, how does it work?

Our bodies function through complex systems. One of these bodily functions runs through the nervous system. In our bodies, we produce endocannabinoids that are neurotransmitters which bind to cannabinoid receptors in the nervous system to help to regulate functions such as sleep, appetite, pain, and the immune system response.

Is CBD oil even legal?

Hemp-derived products, like CBD, that contain less than 0.3 percent THC are legal to use within the United States according to federal laws. But, individual state laws may make them more or less difficult to purchase. Always check with your state laws before purchasing or using any product. Also, keep in mind that non-prescription CBD products like the Willie Nelson CBD Oil Product have not yet been FDA approved even though ongoing studies continue to show that it may provide a safe and powerful natural treatment for many health issues.

Are there any side effects to CBD oil?

Generally speaking, CBD oil is considered to be safe. But, some do experience diarrhea, changes in appetite or weight and fatigue. Those who find relief would no doubt argue that these potential side effects are mild in comparison to the alternative.

Use of the product can also interact with some medications, mainly those that have a warning to avoid grapefruit. The reason for this warning is because CBD oil may interfere with cytochromes P450 CYP enzymes and metabolism. Of course, to be completely safe, it’s always considered best to consult with your physician before attempting any form of treatment even over-the-counter medications or exercise.
